What is an Assessment Management
System (Part 1) ?
An Assessment Management System (AMS)
is a specialized platform for creating, delivering,
managing, and reporting on assessments. While other
tools, such as course authoring programs and Learning
Management Systems (LMS), can provide a limited capacity
to deliver assessments, a full-featured AMS meets the
business need to provide data-rich measurements of training
effectiveness.
The AMS provides immediate and enduring
access to mission-critical training information.
While these tasks can be attempted with
less-capable tools, when an assessment is deployed through
the Assessment Management System, a broad and valuable
range of information is generated. Such measures as
exam reliability and validity, and question discrimination,
are enabled through the detailed data automatically
stored in the AMS. This is because the AMS handles information
in a fundamentally different manner than tools designed
primarily for other purposes.
In the AMS, every single question is an
"item," which endures permanently (with versions
if it is changed), and against which data can be generated.
Pedagogue Solutions can help you during,
before and after a product launch though our assessment
consulting services.

Test Reliability: Should You
Care?
A test, of course, is a form of measurement—
sometimes used for important corporate personnel decisions.
Yet, most corporate trainers accept their measurements
based on a single administration of the test, without
questioning the reliability of their results. This is
certainly true for most of the types of testing done
by our clients: a single summative result that measures
the outcome of a one-time learning experience. Fortunately
there are statistical methods that allow us to measure
test reliability based on a single administration of
a test. How do these reliability measures work?>>
